The amount of sessions very much depends on the needs and goals of the individual. For some, short-term therapy (6 to 8 sessions) is sufficient, for others with more complex issues to work through, longer-term therapy may be more effective. Aided by assessment measures, we review progress at the 5th session so that you are not left guessing. You will always be in control of when you would like to stop.
In general, sessions are scheduled weekly at the same day and time for consistency of the process.
I often have a waiting list and would like to offer cancelled appointments to those clients in need. Late cancellations (less than 24 hrs notice), or a missed appointment with no notice incurs the full session fee. This policy helps maintain a reliable schedule for both client and therapist.
Yes, I have a limited number of evening sessions up to 8pm.
Therapy not working can be determined by many factors that are worth exploring with your therapist. If the approach being used is not a good fit for you, a different approach can be trialled, or if we discover you need a more specialised service, I can help point you in the right direction. Similar to any potential relationship outside of therapy, you may not 'click' with your therapist and that's okay. In that situation, I can support you in finding an alternative service.
I have a four year Batchelor of Science Degree (BSc) First Class Honours in Integrative Counselling and Psychotherapy. In addition, I engage in continuous professional development courses in order to enhance and develop what I currently offer to clients. I hold pre-accreditation with the Irish Association of Counselling and Psychotherapy and abide by their professional standards and code of ethics.
My fee is €75 for up to a 60 minute individual session. A reminder is sent by text or email 3 days before your session. Payment is made securely online before the appointment.
